Oh, so its the workers who are to blame!!!! Your timeline of the paper after 2017 is when bezos acquired...

Will they tho?

He bought the company, changed the editor in chief, forced the editorial board to not make an endorsement in 2024. That decision alone helped drop thousands of subscribers due to its overt spiking from the Billionaire. So yes. He is to blame entirely for tanking the reputation of the WaPo to be nothing more than billionaire trumpet. That's going to turn off the vast majority of people who had subscribed to what the WaPo had been.

I wonder how he'll try to get out of being summoned. Claim 4/20 is a holiday that he celebrates?

It's voluntary

They'll make a judgement without him if he doesn't turn up.

An "audition en tant que témoin libre" is more or less the way for an investigation to give a chance to give their side of the story. Musk is not likely to be personally tried here.

> Claim 4/20 is a holiday that he celebrates?

Given his recent "far right" bromance that's probably not a good idea ;)

It hadn't occurred to me that might be the reason they picked 420

It’s unlikely, because putting the month first is a US thing. In France it would be 20/04, or “20 avril”.

Still, stoner-cultures in many countries in Europe celebrate 4-20, definitively a bunch of Frenchies getting extra stoned that day. It's probably the de-facto "international cannabis day" in most places in the world, at least the ones influenced by US culture which reached pretty far in its heyday.

This isn't the 90s. The right doesn't give a shit about weed.

The right didn't give a shit about weed in the 80's or the 90's depending entirely upon who had it.

When Bernhard Hugo Goetz shot four teenagers on an NYC subway in the 80s, his PCP-laced marijuana use and stash back at his apartment came up in both sets of trials in the 80s and later in the 90s.

It was ignored (although not the alleged drug use of the teenagers) as Goetz was dubbed The Subway Vigilante and became a hero to the right.

His victims were upscaled to "super predators".

His victims? He was the victim. Shooting people who are robbing you (a detail you conveniently left out) is a good thing, which is why even a jury of NYC lefties acquitted him on the shooting charges. The only injustice here is that he did prison time for violating the clearly unconstitutional laws that required him to have a license for the gun.

edit: > Canty would later testify that the victims were en route to steal from video arcade machines in Manhattan

> Each of the four youths shot by Goetz was facing a trial or hearing on criminal charges at the time of the incident. Ten weeks prior to being shot, Cabey was arrested on charges that he held up three men with a shotgun in the Bronx, and he was released on $2,000 bail.[38] Cabey failed to appear at his next court date, resulting in an additional arrest warrant.

Sounds like predators to me.

> Shooting people who are robbing you

Check the civil trial transcripts, they were panhandling by multiple accounts.

> Each of the four youths .. was facing a trial or hearing on criminal charges at the time of the incident.

Minor stuff that was upgraded to a bench warrent after the shootings, ...

> Sounds like predators to me

That was how they were presented by much of the press until a good year after the first trial and Goetz's own description of his actions came out in the civile trial .. he one that awarded several million against him.

Thanks for providing a perfect foil for the comment about heavily politicized and media warped "justice" in the US.

Just minor stuff like robbing people with a shotgun. That was a nice use of the ... to hide the important part. And by their own admission they were on the way to commit more crimes. Yeah, I'm sure they were just panhandling.

Wouldn't celebrating hitler's birthday be good for his far-right bromance?

Oh, that was 100% in my mind when I wrote that. I was wondering how explicit to be with Musk's celebrating being for someone's birthday.

We'll know he's gone too far if he has to take another "voluntary" trip to Israel

you would perhaps be shocked to learn how right-leaning the money folks behind the legal and legacy cannabis markets actually are. money is money.

> Claim 4/20 is a holiday that he celebrates?

Most likely, it's Hitler's birthday after all

> Nary a mention of parking garages / underground parking?

Yes, they're mentioned in the article. You clearly only checked out the title.

"There's clearly rhetorical hyperbole happening there" in a business paper is called lying

Name a unicorn whose early round pitch decks are 100% free of wishful thinking

Making a "sentient sun" is the most bald-faced asinine, drug-induced nonsense that should be the complete destruction of all credibility to anyone who said it or typed it or works for anything here.

They have many other articles directly addressing the rising fascism. That you also only see this as an "affiliate link" without grokking the larger theme of "Gas Masks for tear gas" and how that relates to what ICE is doing to the US is part of the larger problem with contemporary media illiteracy.

Are you sure it is just media illiteracy? Unfortunately, there are people out there that just don't care enough or actually think the US "president" is right and the protestors are dead wrong.

The Brown-Red Scare is the largest contemporary failure in media literacy.

Incompetence and conspiracies go hand-in-hand.

Not really. It is far easier to explain incompetence in powerful positions than to explain competence on purpose in powerful positions - the latter is definitely a conspiracy, the former is not.

This administration’s incompetence allows their opponents to conspire much more effectively.

Quite often it is both.

It's not uncommon for incompetent people to be put in positions of power. Because they are incompetent, competent but malicious people take advantage of this and commit actual crimes.

This is where actual conspiracies show up. And that is the incompetent powerful people cover up said crime to avoid looking incompetent.

It is an extremely common pattern.

When Donald Trump saw the footage of the murder of Renee Good, he said "Oh". He didn't know what ICE were doing until then. He trusted his cabinet who were telling him they were getting illegal immigrants and left wing terrorists.

He also repeated the lies that she was a domestic terrorist etc. I don’t think we need credit trump with any moral fibre over this just yet…

No, he did not trust his cabinet at all, which is why he put a bunch of yes men in place to ensure they fucked up and did the dumbest thing.

DT has had a long history of operating like a mafia boss where the design of the people he chooses around him is to put scapegoats on when the criminal activities he's involved in is caught.

He chose people who give him good emotions, because he has dementia. He didn't know that would mean they would screen the world from him, because he has dementia. If he did know that, he wouldn't understand it because he has dementia.

Ai is definitely able to sling out more and more lines of code, yes. Whether those LOC are productive...?

Tomorrow's Calc app will have 30mil lines of code and 1000 npm dependencies!

and 2+2 will output 4 almost all the time.. just like a human would.
